Day 7- GPS

Santa Monica to Larkspur

Up the coast on Route 101 then 1. Unbelievable beauty. This drive rivals the most amazing places on Route 66 but so different.

It was a long day starting at dawn. Why dawn... well we kinda got lost in the Las Padres National Park. Yup lost at 3am with very little gas. EEEK. It was tense in the car so we decided just to pull over at a vista point and sleep in the car til the am. Woke up early to get started, just in case, and we made it! Yes we coasted ALL the way back down from the forest to Ojai and gas. Zoom in on the GPS and see our predicament. Wow!

Away we go to the coast, first stop the beach in Santa Monica and jump right in the Pacific Ocean. We needed a wake up. Short stop to visit with Staci, a college friend of TJ's, then back on the road til we couldn't hold our eyes open any longer.

We pulled over and took a nap on another of California's finest beaches in Arroyo Grande. TJ got so burnt. His face is bright red. :)

Route 1 has such amazing views, one after another, around every turn. Don't look down and keep your eyes focused ahead. First I drove then TJ. Not sure who had more fun! Through Big Sur, Carmel and Monterey.

We made it to Larkspur, visited a bit with TJ's Uncle Ron, pizza and bed. Ahhh! Bed! Felt gret to get a good nights sleep.

Today off to see the Americas Cup.
