Got a late start (again- hmm seems to be a theme), heading out from TJ's parents in Grosse Ile to make a quick stop at Jeff's house. Big hugs to Jeff, Laura and Drew.
On our way to Chicago to the start of Route 66. We wanted to get out to take some photos at the start on Lake Shore Drive. But... yeah right like that was going to happen. For anyone that is not familiar with Chicago. Think of the busiest street next to a river/lake/ocean etc with no parking and a park in the downtown area. Uh no.
So I snapped a few photos en route through the streets of downtown Chicago to the suburbs all while looking for Route 66 markers, street signs and turns. That was a very busy time for the navigator and a lot going on for the driver too. Yay for TJ!
Route 66 crosses and connects to I55 through out all of Illinois. So back and forth we go- following Route 66 where we can and taking I55 where we cant. Get a good look in close up and you will find that we really were on some back, back roads. Fun stuff at 11pm, all dark through cornfields, alone and rocking out to Pink Floyd. Great timing for Sirius- the songs just kept coming.
Found a place to crash on the west side of St Louis because we didn't want to deal with Monday traffic today through the city.
Checking out and ready for Day 3. St Louis to ...? Might try to get to Albuquerque...how far is that?

West side of St Louis much the better choice than the East. Just sayin'
